A Common Question: Does Duct Tape Remove Warts?
Warts are quite a common problem among adults as well as children. We probably don’t have to tell you that they can appear on the hands, feet, face and other parts of the body. Warts are skin growths, which are usually caused by the HPV virus. There are a number of different treatments that are available today and which are used to remove warts from the body.
Ok, so what about duct tape? Most people have heard of the idea of using duct tape to remove warts but are not sure whether this is true or if it is just a myth. Duct tape is a quite simple method for removing warts and one that can work. You need to purchase a roll of duct tape from your local hardware or convenience store before you can get started. For hand, foot and face warts however duct tape can be a great treatment that you can use on your own right at home.
You do not want to use an oversized piece of tape because it will be uncomfortable to wear around for a week’s time. You really do not want it much larger than that because it will be too uncomfortable and awkward to wear around for a long period of time. You need to keep the tape on for about six days, after which you will remove it. In some cases the wart may have grown partially into the tape and will rip out right from the root as you pull the tape off.
For more stubborn warts it often takes a few trials so do not give up after the first attempt.Rubbing the wart with an emery board afterwards is also helpful especially if the wart did not come completely off with the tape. You may need to apply another piece of tape the next day and repeat the procedure. Then you need to start the process all over again, starting with applying a new piece of duct tape.
This is a preferable treatment for removing warts because it is natural. Also, during the time that you are treating the wart by wearing the tape people will not see the wart so you do not have to worry about keeping it covered up otherwise. You also do not have to worry about spending a lot of money as you would on some of the more advanced procedures like laser wart removal. It is also easy and you can do it on your own so you do not need to get in and see a doctor.
