My boyfriend just discovered he has HPV genital warts. How can we cope with what a couple?
We are to marry next year. Just a few days ago, he discovered that he has HPV genital warts. He feels lost, stained, and worthless. I try everything I can to try to convince him that I love him, not just his genitals (with warts or not!). I know I'm not infected because we are waiting to "eat" the marriage. He feels he is not worthy of being loved and feels shameful. I can not stop loving the man because he has HPV. I heard so many stories about this STI – that is incurable, it is curable (within 2 years, no less!). What information can I be given about what does not come from advertising (I do not know if I want to believe the marketing team of a special drug that supposedly treated or what)? Basically, what I can tell him say to make him feel a little better? You know how the ego is important for human male! Thank you:)
Go to this site. It offers lots of information useful about how to address this issue. Hope this helps http://www.thehpvtest.com/coping-with-HPV-diagnosis.html. Good luck!
