What is the best way to get rid of groundhogs / mol?
I'm not even sure which ones I have, waffles or moles. But I'm tired of them. I bought and tried two types of traps. One Mole Pro, and the spring loaded teeth long and typical type spear trap. I used two or three types of poisons. Who knows if it works or not? I even shot them both a gun 22 gauge and 20 gauge shot gun.Yes I live in the country. Fortunately. Sound like Caddy Shack yet? My last attempt could be another possible type of trap I seen my father had borrowed from his neighbor. This trap is a company called Nash Products Inc does not really want to yet a third style of trap and I do not want to treat 4 acres of grass / grub killer Gardens with either .. I heard that what attracts them. Kill grubs and they leave. It would be quite expensive for the size of the area I am involved with. Can someone show me an easy way before the back hoe?
You're in luck. As a master gardener for the Univ of California Coop Extension for over 15 years, I'm known as Dr. Death. I sent a lot of balls tooth fuzz ball gopher heaven of man while San Diego County. My first time killing rate was 98.5% compared to my attempt trap'n first. First poisoned bait … 25% kill rate. They only work in the cold season when there is not much to fuzz balls to eat. Admittedly, the choice of a large, fat juicy root or dried beans poison, what you eat? In addition, for the poison to work, they should eat at least 5 days a row for him to do this work. If Mr. Gopher he eats only a few times, all you get is a sick, gopher and smarter. Trap'n is the only way to make sure you nail down ****. But the real secretion has nothing to do with traps. Secretion is to assign and / or filling as much of the tunnel as possible. Just because you nailed Uncle Jim does not end your problems. Because as soon as Uncle Jim is nailed, leroy cousin move right next door to condo old Jim. You may have problems factory for years and never know you have waffles. If they have nice little empty tunnel waiting for, uh, they did not dig further. No excavation, no hills and you think you do not have waffles. More transferor their tunnel, you can see when you have an activity and can kill him immediately. Also tunnels under, the harder it is for them to make babies. Except for mating, they like to live alone in their own tunnels. If females and males are kept further away … you get the idea. Traps are the best "Black Hole traps you can find in most home depots, etc. This man came to San Diego up with the idea back in the middle 1980s. You're tired of pulling traps theguts launches. He built a 4-inch pipe made of PVC. simple idea that worked. He made several times County Farm Bureau to advise and many of us Master Gardeners won them a try. They worked great. His son made a million dollars off the design. Always buy 'um in pairs, one for each direction of the tunnel. No bait needed, but some old timerswear rub a little garlic the trap is a sure way to get um. I nailed thousands without garlic, so I do not think it matters? Get a long piece steel bars and straighten an end, as a walking cane. Rap a piece of cloth around the handle portion so you do not get blisters on the palms. You now have a large gopher "Prod. You use that to search the feeling ground tunnels. Believe me, you'll know when you find one. The best place to start is inbetween two mounds, they rarely push the ground with their main tunnel, but push it off on each side of the main gallery. Set traps via the simple instructions on the box and go have a beer. Between 1 and 12 hours later, you'll have another reason. No more bloody spears to be treated. The trap is designed so yo never touch the ball fuzz. You just release the trap on the trash and Uncle Jim just falls late in the trash. Then the hard part starts hard. Use your probe and follow the tunnel. Back filling with earth or a cave, to the extent where you can find. the more the better. I used every spring to give a full day, hands on class homeowners on gopher control for the caliph Univ. The class was limited to 50 people but swelled to over 100. So I started giving each year. Many former students drop by to brag about their success. A lady 74 years went home after my class and took 14 waffles in the summer. If she can do it too. It's not as difficult as it sounds. It the brain makes the work more muscle. Gopher damage to crops and landscape in the state of California annually top $ 3 billion. It's dollars with a type B. I with one finger, so I tend to make mistakes with speed. But the spell checker is back as usual and I'm tired wait all day, so forgive my typos.
