tag removing the baby's skin with surgery?

My baby is 15 months old had a label next to the skin of the ear since birth. First they thought it might drop, or be removed by cold GP. But now, because the base is rather large, they want to remove it by putting my little anesthesia. I am really hesitant and afraid of the whole thing anesthesia. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this with their baby and advice?

My eldest was born with very severe clubfoot (clubbed feet), he was 4 months old when he had his first operation and I was quite hesitant due to the anesthesia but I knew, for his own account, he had really be done. He did well and underwent surgery later to continue to correct his foot problems.
