Skin tags are small tumors that can develop on the body but these tumors are benign and therefore not dangerous. They are small flaps of skin that are more of a nuisance than anything and which vary widely in terms of color and size from one person to the next. Even dogs can get skin tags and there is really nothing to worry about unless you are concerned with the cosmetic appearance of things. In this case you would need to get in and talk to your doctor to have them do an assessment.

Of the various treatments that can be used to remove skin tags, one of the most commonly relied on is cryotherapy. This skin tags freezing treatment involves the use of liquid nitrogen which freezes them on contact. They use a substance called liquid nitrogen which is one of the coldest substances in the world. There is minimal risk involved which is why it is one of the preferred treatments for removing skin tags.

In most cases no anesthesia is involved because it is such a quick procedure but for patients who are really concerned with it they may. To freeze the skin tags liquid nitrogen is applied directly on top of each tag, freezing it on contact. It may then fall off on its own or with a bit of pressure from the doctor pushing on it. One of the main reasons the cryotherapy method is so commonly used is because it of how quick it is.

Cryotherapy works much quicker than other skin tag removal methods. You can literally be in and out of the doctor’s office in a matter of minutes and your skin tags will be gone for good. It also offer benefits over other treatments because it is able to get rid of the entire skin tag whereas home remedies like using a string to pull the tag off may leave pieces behind. Some people have managed and it may work okay but in most cases a tiny piece of the skin tag will remain attached to the skin and it will be too small to tie a string to again.

Cutting them with scissors is the method that many people use but even with disinfected scissors there is still risk of infection. The method you choose for removing your skin tags is completely up to you. Then there are some people who decide to live with their skin tags and do not worry about them. Or you could choose to live with your skin tags and not worry about it if they are not causing you too much trouble.
