The Facts about Mole and Wart Removal
The majority of people will at some point be afflicted with a wart. Understanding more about warts is important in deciding which treatment best suits you. In addition, moles are another common complaint and in many ways they are related to the wart. Conventional remedies for mole and wart removal and are very similar. Home remedies that can be used to treat a wart will sometimes also work to remove a mole.
A wart is caused by the human papillomavirus or HPV where there are 60 to 80 different strains. The virus enters the body and infects the individual through a cut or scratch in the skin. A mole is a round or oval spot found on the skin that is normally raised and can vary in colour from black to brown to pink depending on the type of mole and the age of the mole. Most people on average will find they have anywhere between 10 to 50 moles on their body and maybe more.
There are various methods for removing a wart. A dermatologist may decide to freeze the wart (Cryotherapy) or burn them off with an electrical current or a laser, of course there are the over the counter treatments and herbal remedies that can be attempted at home. Cryotherapy involves the freezing of the wart using cryogens of which the most common is liquid nitrogen as this form of the element can reach much lower temperatures.
Like warts, moles can be removed in one of three ways. Laser therapy is an option as well as excision with stitches and excision with cauterisation. Herbal treatments and over the counter remedies can also be attempted with moles too. With laser treatment and anaesthetic is not normally required and the procedure itself is very simple. The laser is aimed directly at the mole which seals the blood vessels and evapourates the tissue. This is turn will lead to the mole tissue dying off and falling away front the skin. Another method is excision without stitches. The doctor will use a scalpel to cut down the mole to skin level, he then uses and electrical instrument to cauterise the wound to remove the remainder of the mole. Alternatively the surgeon can perform excision and the stitch the area if required, as would be in the case of a very deep mole.
As opposed to visiting your doctor for surgical mole and wart removal there are many home remedies out there for you to try. Most of them can be quite effective and will avoid the pain and the expense of a trip to the dermatologist. The downside is that natural home remedies do take a lot longer and anyone attempting to remove a growth with this method should expect to repeat the treatment for about 1 to 2 months. The upside of natural methods is there are far less chances of scarring.
