Do plantar warts go away on their own or not?

Pediatrician said they’d go away in a month to a year, but when I look at YA for remedies, everyone agrees that they need to be removed or treated to go away. Which is it?

I’m going thru this with my daughter. She had a spot on each foot that she was complaining about, after looking into it I’ve determined they are plantar warts. They do bother her, and that’s what I read online as well, although I don’t know if they bother everyone. I first tried the over the counter liquid wart remover, and thought that after some time we were done, but now they bother her again and they are getting dark again like before. So now I’m thinking we weren’t really done treating them before. My sister had one before on her foot, and she got some sort of patch for it that treated it. I’m going to look into those for my daughter before doing anything else at the moment. And yes, I did read online that they eventually go away after a period of time, but it seemed like I read that it could take up to 3 yrs. I’d have to check again to be sure.
