Few warts on the scalp – how to get rid of them?
Hello, my wife has some cauliflower like warts on his scalp ("hide" in her hair). Some say it would be impossible to remove by laser surgery. So I wonder, does anyone know who care (or home) would be the best method to get rid of them? She absolutely wants to avoid "common" surgery, so I'm asking about cryosurgery, laser treatment, topical treatment … anything, anyone? Thank you for all the advice / suggestions.
When it comes Warts in general, there are several treatments available. When the warts are on the scalp, however, some specific treatments can be a bit easier. Most current or OTC treatments can be difficult to apply to the bare skin and hair so I would recommend a physician or a treating physician made. Cryosurgery or freezing with liquid nitrogen would be a straight forward approach. This could be achieved by a dermatologist and usually takes about 30 seconds. There is a certain portion of burning during freezing and then for a minute or when the area is "thaw". The next few days after cryosurgery region becomes slightly red and swollen, then a scab forms and, finally, the wart falls. Meanwhile, there are usually no restrictions and the region can get wet and it's OK to shampoo, etc. Another approach would be easy to have the doctor do a shave for reference. This involves a local anesthetic with a small ball right in the zone itself. On the scalp, the move is more of a strange feeling than anything else. Numbness usually takes 2-3 seconds and then after that, she feels nothing. Warts are then removed with a blade and the results are instantaneous. The slight bleeding is stopped and the area should heal completely in 10-14 days. While this may be considered "surgery" its really not too bad. Laser treatment for warts is exaggerated and hair, it may be less effective than in any case it can interfere with laser light. In addition, if the warts are already at the stage of cauliflower, topical treatment would be difficult on a scalp and probably take much longer than cryosurgery or shave removal.
