Treating Facial Skin Tags
Skin tags, which are also known as papillomas, are a common problem. Many men, women and children find themselves with these little flaps of skin hanging off their face or body. They can appear almost anywhere but more likely that would be in places like under the armpits and on the back of the neck. They can even develop on the eyelids and other parts of the face which can make them very bothersome and uncomfortable to have to live with.
There are a few options for treatments that are available. Many people choose to just leave their skin tags if they are not bothering them. For treatment the ligation procedure is one of the most commonly chosen methods for removal of a skin tag. This process takes only a matter of minutes but the problem with it is that it takes actually a few days to complete.
This is usually left on for a couple of days or otherwise until the skin tag has withered up and fallen off. Once the suture has been on for a couple of days it will end up causing the skin tag to wither away and eventually fall off. This is one of the most effective options for removing a skin tag but it is not always the best choice if more than one skin tag needs to be treated at the same time. The cryotherapy treatment involves the doctor using liquid nitrogen that is applied directly onto the tag.
For this procedure the doctor will use liquid nitrogen which is one of the coldest substances there is. For this procedure doctors use liquid nitrogen applied directly onto the skin tag and this will freeze the tags and cause them to fall off. Some doctors simply use a pair of scissors and cut the skin tag right off. This is the most ideal treatment for people who want to remove their skin tag and see the results right away.
People should never try this on their own at home because there is a risk of infection if they have not properly disinfected their scissors before using them. It depends on where the skin tags are located because some areas are too delicate and doctors may not agree to use the scissor method. This is actually not the case at all as there is no evidence pointing to this. There is no worry that more skin tags will grow back in the place after getting one removed because there is no evidence to show this and there are just some people who are more prone to them than others.
