You're probably still contagious after treatment. Treatments remove the outer manifestation of the wart, but do not remove the virus. It will take a year or two for your body to build immunity to your acquired HPV type or types, once the immunity is acquired, then you can not get this new type. The virus can reactivate years after contracting the virus. You can acquire new HPV types from a new sexual partner. You're probably less contagious one year after treatment …. but we can not guarantee that we will never share our HPV infection with a new sexual partner. If you had sexual intercourse before removing the wart …. he probably already shares your virus, although it probably did not show any signs as a wart. You have been infectious for several weeks or months before the wart was seen. Many people have the HPV types that cause visible warts, but show no signs of the virus. Condoms provide about 70% of prevention. There is no antiviral medication oral or genital warts. They Many are called boosters of the immune system, but there is no real evidence that these will help prevent future outbreaks. Electrocautery can cause scaring … A healthy lifestyle will boost your immune system to eat a balanced diet – 5 to 7 servings of fruits and vegetables, quality sleep July-August hours per night, reducing stress, exercising, limiting alcohol more than 3 servings per week and the use of condoms. Most people treated for external warts do not have complete resolution, even after several treatments. This is because most treatments destroy HPV lesions, but can not eliminate HPV in surrounding normal-appearing skin. Until the immune system of the individual reacts and removes the remaining HPV, new lesions may appear. There is evidence that condom use can reduce exposure and the rate of viral clearance of HPV-related disease. Viral load decreased may allow the individual's own immune system a better chance of eliminating the virus. http://www.asccp.org/hpv_history.shtml treatment of genital warts are not necessarily reduce your risk of HPV transmission to a partner sex. You can still transmit the virus to sexual partners even after the warts are treated. It is not known how long a person remains contagious after warts are treated. http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/common-clinicians/InsertGW.pdf
