recalcitrant plantar wart?

I have a very stubborn wart on the plantar surface of my heel. Its about 1.5 inches in diameter. In fact, its about 4000 small warts all combined in this horrible large painful mass. I froze 8 times, aboslutely with no success (I think actually just made the wart angry). And I was using 40% salicylic acid paste for over a year now. There apparently no easy solution to it. I read on several different treatments …. lasers, tagamet, bleomycin injections …. what in the world will help this wart? Are there any podiatrists out there who have a magic cure? At this point, I'm quite looking amputation as a solution. I'm in pain, and my tendon Achilles is actually shorter on this side of the box for the last 2 years. Please help. I can not make the tape as I am allergic to latex. This is not an option.

Nightmare! Warts are the bane of the life of a podiatrist (and some of our patients')! You might look at surgical excision, but of course that bears the risk of scarring, as electrodessication. I suppose you have kept skin side down on the area using a file / emery? It may be the skin covering the buildup that gets painful to walk. Keep in mind that sometimes the treatments themselves can contribute to pain! If you are allergic to latex, you can try a non-latex band occlusive or a movie – anything that will trap moisture and lead to tissue maceration. Bleomycin is not widely used in the United Kingdom (Or at least not in the National Health Service), so I can not comment on its effectiveness. I must confess that I tend to go for the best option simple and try to download the appropriate region with a sole, but I'm not sure how it would be easy for a mosaic wart type you describe. I must add that sometimes they become painful just before they disappear (but not always). Sorry I have not a magic bullet – but I know of a podiatrist who claimed excellent results using the power of the mind. Watch it happened! Good luck
