What Causes Skin Tags

Skin tags are a very popular ailment experienced by many people in different places, such as the groin, genitals, armpits or eyelids. However, the question of skin tag causes hasn’t been resolved by health care providers. One of the main causes for this appears to be the benign nature of skin tags. Because they are recognized not to present any threat to wellness, skin tag causes haven’t been made precedence for research projects. There are however a small amount of research professionals that have tried to find certain causes of skin tags, of which the findings are simply inconclusive for the most part.

One of the potential skin tag causes is genetic endowment i.e. genetic tendency to develop skin tags. Particularly folks who are in the middle years of their life experience the most skin tag problems. Although adults are most susceptible, a person of any age, even a child, can experience the development of skin tags especially if their parents are prone to skin tags.

Another major cause of skin tags is thought to be obesity due to a number of small studies conducted. It is common to find skin tags on the armpits, groin, the back of the neck and the eyelids of those who are overweight. Although there are particular areas of the body skin tags tend to show up, there is no known particular reason for it. One guess is that chaffing of the skin brings on skin tags and enables them to stay irritated and therefore not go away. It is especially common to develop skin tags under the breasts in women.

Men and women are evenly apt to acquire skin tags except for expectant women. Pregnancy is among the main skin tag causes in women. Pregnant women may get skin tags in all the same places that someone else would. The best thing about skin tags in pregnancy is that they ordinarily disappear, without treatment, in a couple of months after childbearing. Skin tags can be frozen off if they become irritating and bothersome in a dermatologist’s office.
