What Is The Typical Treatment For Skin Tags?

Skin tags are quite common. These are small growths on the skin that typically appear under the arms and on the neck. They are considered to be a type of skin abnormality but because skin tags are benign they are not considered to be dangerous for the most part. Any person can develop skin tags as they are common among men and women alike but often develop more on overweight people.

To figure out what the right treatment for skin tags is in your case, it is important to get in and talk to your doctor more about this. Most often however it is the cosmetic appearance that people are worried about and they want to get rid of their skin tags so that they can feel better about the way that they look. Here doctors use what is known as cryotherapy treatment which involves liquid nitrogen applied to the skin tag which freezes it on contact. This substance is applied directly onto the wart which freezes it on contact.

This is one of the easiest methods of treating skin tags and usually takes no more than a few minutes. Some skin tags require the patient to have anesthesia before removal. This is for the patient’s comfort to prevent them from feeling any pain if the doctor has to pull on the tag a bit. This is to ensure the patient will feel as little pain as possible as the skin tag is being removed.

You can even just use a pair of scissors right at home to cut a skin tag off if you want but you need to be sure you are only cutting the dead skin of the tag and not your actual skin. A lot of people prefer to do it on their own at home because they are too embarrassed to talk to their doctor about it. Skin tags are such a common problem that you should never feel ashamed and worry about going in and talking to your doctor. One of the easiest home remedies to use in this case would be vinegar.

Even a pair of scissors or nail clippers can work but be sure to disinfect them first. At least it is a relief to know that removing skin tags is quick and usually painless. Herbal extracts like Dermisil for skin tags also work well. It is completely up to you what you choose to do because it is your body and your life.
